Esquisse — A Tribute to Claude Provencher
Esquisse is a musical work paying tribute to Montreal architect Claude Provencher.
What is Esquisse?
Located at the Technopôle Angus, Esquisse is a unique artistic experience composed of musical pavers that come to life through the movements of passersby. The notes generated by pedestrians’ improvised choreography create jazz melodies — a passion of Claude Provencher’s. Three musical scenes unfold throughout the day, inviting visitors to discover the full richness of this innovative urban installation.
A Work Inspired by Claude Provencher
As co-founder of the architectural firm Provencher_Roy, Claude Provencher was a visionary who played a major role in shaping the Technopôle Angus. That is why the Groupe Angus, in collaboration with Provencher_Roy and Daily tous les jours, wanted to pay tribute to him through a work of art accessible to all and inspired by his vision. The idea for Esquisse emerged after reviewing sketches Claude Provencher had created, one of which depicted an agora-style sculpture intended for the Technopôle. The inspiration behind this project was clear: to create an artistic experience that comes to life through collective interaction and evolves in step with passersby.
On your next visit to the Technopôle Angus, discover the artwork by creating your own melody with the rhythm of your footsteps.
